I’ve always been a lover of literature and film and turn to them whenever I’m feeling blue. In a life that is scary and uncertain, stories help to ease those nasty feelings of confusion and being adrift. They are a way in which we receive truth and fantasy, go on a voyage while remaining still, and find new ways in which to interpret the world.
“After nourishment, shelter, and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world” – Phillip Pullman
“Stories of imagination tend to upset those without one” – Terry Pratchett
“There’s always room for a story that can transport people to another place” – J. K. Rowling
Hannahbelle’s Couch is a site devoted to creating, sharing, and exploring the ways in which stories are told, in the hopes that the more stories that pass into the world, the better life will be.
“Stories you read when you’re the right age never quite leave you. You may forget who wrote them or what the story was called. Sometimes you’ll forget precisely what happened, but if a story touches you it will stay with you, haunting the places in your mind that you rarely visit” – Neil Gaiman
“Stories can conquer fear, you know. They can make the heart bigger” – Ben Okri
So if you read, write, or have a tale to tell, get in touch and share it with Hannahbelle!
“We’re all stories in the end” – Steven Moffat
